I came across the February Inspiration Challenge from Altenew and the picture was so vibrant and pretty I just had to make a card! I guess I was inspired. LOL.
I have really been into loving layering sets that are messy or look like they were loosely water colored. I like that the color layers don’t match up perfectly with the outline layers. Something about it just really speaks to me right now.
For my card I started out with Neenah Solar White card stock and started stamping some of the beautiful flowers and leaves from the Hibiscus Bouquet Stamp Set by Altenew. I just love this set. I used Tsukineko VersaFine Onyx Black ink for this and for the sentiment I picked from WPlus9 Hand Lettered Thanks set.
When I got all the blooms and leaves done it was time for color! I used Simon Says Stamp Dye inks in Doll Pink and Lucky. These colors are just so vibrant and I thought a great match for the inspiration picture.
When I got everything stamped I thought that it was still a bit plan with so much white, so I pulled out this Crackle stencil from Prima Marketing I’ve been dying to use. I think this stencil works great. It reminds me of the cracks in a wall, so I used Simon Says Dye ink in Barely Beige and a ClarityStamp Sencil brush to get a really light dusting of ink in the cracks. It was just what I needed to add some interest.
For my card base I put my Barely Beige ink pad direct to paper to make the edges pull out some more of that color from the cracked stencil. Then I decided I needed a little dimension so I added some Tonic Nuvo Crystal Drops in Rhubarb Crumble to the inside of my flowers.
To finish up my card I used the Scallop piece of the Femme Frames die from the Mama Elephant Creative Cuts Basic Set to give it a nice edge and mounted it on my card base! I really love the way this card turned out. The bright colors make me feel happy, especially with all the grey skies and snow we have right now!
