Hello Sunshine – SSS Wednesday Challenge – Fantastic Florals

Inspiration from another challenge

I do find that I love having a purposeful project with certain guidelines/rules to follow. When left to myself with all my stamps I find I get overwhelmed with so many choices and don’t get anything done. Haha!

This time I hit the Simon Says Stamp blog for some inspiration! I just love SSS. They have an awesome design team and are always stuffed full of great inspiration (plus the sss store is my #1 go to place for supplies) I have really been digging anything floral recently. I don’t know if it’s the dreary weather or what but I just can’t seem to keep my hands off them. The SSS Wednesday Challenge this week is Fantastic Florals showcasing Altenew Stamps!!! I was like WOO HOO! I have several beautiful floral stamp sets from Altenew that I’ve been dying to get inky.

So right off the bat I knew that I wanted something sort of clean and simple, and I wanted to use teal and peach colors. I’ve been gravitating toward this color combo recently for some reason. I made two cards using the the Hello Sunshine stamp set from Altenew. I almost always make more than one card. I figure while I have out my stamps and ink – might as well make it worth it.

For both of the cards I stamped out my images in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and added clear embossing powder from WOW! I was originally going to use my Zig watercolor markers on them, but realized just as I was pulling them out, that I stamped on Neenah Solar White 80lb card stock and I’ve never had good luck getting my Zigs to blend nicely on it. So I decided to use Copics to color in all my flowers. My first card panel, which I ended up tossing I tried to shade my florals and ended up with a mess – colors bleeding out everywhere. I’m just not great with copics yet. haha. So I decided to go simple and just use a single color on each. I actually love the way it turned out.

After I got the coloring done I added one of the sentiments from the set – Hello Sunshine again in Versafine Onyx Black. For one of the cards I then used two of the small star like stamps to add some interest to the background in the same teal and peach colors. I found Coral Crush and Tropical Teal from My Favorite Things Hybrid Ink to be a perfect match. This was one of those things I thought would be a good idea, but ultimately wasn’t crazy about. I much prefer my second card – just CAS.

To finish these off I stuck them to Topical Teal Card stock from MFT with tape runner and called it a night! I considered adding some jewel drops or sequins to the simple card, but ultimately decided to not mess with. I do just love how the second more simple one turned out. I think I may use this design to make a set of note cards with different sentiments. We’ll see!
