SSS Ornate Leaves | Color Throwdown #463 Challenge

I’m not much for clean and simple cards. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s mostly that I can’t leave well enough alone. But this time I think I nailed it!

I see the color throwdown challenges every week and every week I wish I could find time to participate. As soon as I saw this weeks inspiration I was super determined to make the time. I immediately knew I wanted to break out the new Simon Says Stamp Ornate Leaves set!

I started with some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and die cut a panel with the largest SSS Wonky Stitched Rectangle. Then I used my MISTI to position the largest leaf from the SSS Ornate Leaves set and I stamped it using two Distress Oxide inks. I just blended the Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey right on the stamp and stamped it down.  It worked beautifully.

For the sentiment I used Happy Thanksgiving from the Pretty Pink Posh Giving Thanks set. I tried to stamp it in Hero Arts Unicorn ink because I wanted it to be white. But the white pigment ink started to pick up the color from the Distress Oxide ink so to fix this I just quickly poured Wow Opaque Bright White Super Fine embossing powder over the pigment ink and heat set it. Worked perfect! (thank goodness)

When that was done I still felt like the card needed something and suddenly it hit me-sometimes cards just come together easy and it is GREAT when that happens- I used some dew drops in October Sky from Honey Bee Stamps. I just LOVE these and they really did the trick. I adhered them with some Ranger Multi-Media Matte Adhesive.

To finish it off I just used some 3m foam tape to stick my completed panel onto a Neenah 80lb Solar White card stock base.

Cards don’t usually come together this easily for me and I was so happy it did because I really wanted to get a chance to post it into the Color Throwdown Challenge! (Can’t believe my kids left me alone long enough to get this done!!! YAY)
